Statement
In my latest works I have traveled inwards to what is really going on inside, to what is the purpose in life, to keeping the light switch on. There has been a big change in perspective in the last year for me. And this has really affected my painting. Instead of looking outward for inspiration, I am going deep into my emotions. I’m feeling the synchronicity in life when you’re flowing and letting go of what is not necessary anymore. My paintings have become about trust, trust in life taking us into the right direction. This is something we have all experienced at some point in our lives, being at the right place at the right time, having a deep connection with somebody you just met. I’m yearning to keep that feeling, to stay open to possibility.
Traveling has always been a great source of inspiration for me, but this is the next step, feeling the connection of mind, body, and spirit. Meditation has become an important part of my practice. I like portraying images of connection, unconditional love, an open heart, and feeling aware of the softness we can transmit with every touch, in every brushstroke. We are all human, and why not transmit the positive and be kinder to one another?
I find inspiration from my own photos or found images that help portray a feeling. Painting for me starts with an idea, but it usually will change and transform. I let the process guide me. The goal is to enjoy the process and have freedom to experiment.
