Statement:

Taylor’s work explores the ethics of animal agricultural processing and the inherent animal byproducts. Taylor responds to the cultural worth assigned to materials. This includes the process, labor and value. Through this work Orr  attempts to discern her role within the animal industry and critically assess her own place within the cycle.

Bio:

Taylor Orr (b. 1995, Michigan) is an interdisciplinary artist working out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Taylor holds a BFA in Fine Art from the University of Dayton, Dayton Ohio. She currently attends Eastern Michigan University working to complete an MFA in interdisciplinary studies. Taylor looks to her visual vernacular for reference on experience to create three-dimensional fibers based works. Her practice has been rooted in photography, which greatly informs her interdisciplinary work.

More recently, in the fall of 2018 Taylor was granted a graduate assistantship with Eastern Michigan University aiding the Fibers department until May 2020. Taylor’s work will be shown In the upcoming 33rd annual Materials: Hard + Soft International Contemporary Craft Competition & Exhibition at the Greater Denton arts council in Denton, TX February 7th- May 9th 2020. Her work will also be exhibited in the Material|Fiber exhibition at the University of Dayton which will run February 20th-March 25th 2020.
