Statement

Bio

In 1969 Rolando moved from Mexico to the USA with his family and lived and studied in California. At the young age of 15, he began developing his love for photography as a hobby which he continued developing during his education. In High School, he obtained an active role as the first Photo Editor for the school's newspaper, The Roadrunner, 1979-1981.

In 1981 he enrolled at The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, (FIDM) in Los Angeles, California.

During his studies, he participated in several school exhibitions and participated in the publication of the school's first annual yearbook in its history, 1983. From 1985-1986 he co-published Sophis, a fashion-art-politics magazine.
In 1989 he moved back to Mexico and worked as a professional freelance photographer.
Exhibitions:
1994 - The collective photo exhibition entitled ‘Seven photographers Seven’, Zamora, Michoacán.
1995 - Solo exhibition entitled La Moda, Zamora, Michoacán.

From 1995 to the present he has participated in various exhibitions which were highlighted by a solo exhibition “ La Luz de Adentro”, Salon Efrain Vargas, Casa de la Cultura, Morelia, Michoacán, 1997.

“Rojo por Dentro” Cologio de Michoacán 2000, and had a series of prints at the Photographic Gallery in San Miguel de Allende, 2015. Awards:
2014 Sandoval received the Silver award in the Fine Art Collage category in the Moscow international foto Awards (MIFA).

In 2013 he was selected to participate in a virtual art exhibition in New York entitled “Story of the Creative” sponsored by See Me. Currently, Sandoval works at Arte Sandoval Maciel's art gallery alongside his wife in creating original art.
