BIORAPHY

Grace Doyle is an MFA candidate in Towson University’s Studio Arts program. She graduated from the University of Baltimore with an MBA in 2019, and Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in 2009. Doyle studied in Norway under contemporary figurative painter Odd Nerdrum. Doyle was a finalist in the 2023 Miami University Young Painters Competition. She serves as treasurer on the Board of Directors at Hamilton Arts Collective.

STATEMENT

Through paint, I explore my friends and family in quiet, introspective moments. These compositions reveal a vulnerable side of the human experience that is only unveiled when people are not performing or fulfilling societal roles. I am interested in the inner person, as well as what they project outward. Using richly painted surfaces with mesmerizing patterns and lush vegetation, I captivate the viewer to encourage self-reflection and curiosity.
