Mica Smith is a Houston based painter and educator who earned his BA from Fairmont State University in Fairmont, WV and his MFA in 2-D Studies from Cincinnati University in Cincinnati, OH.

Smith has exhibited extensively on an international level and is a current full time lecturer in Sam Houston State University's WASH (Workshop in Art Studio + History) program, on the studies of 2-D surface and 3-D space. He received the Outstanding Educator Award in 2015 from Cincy Magazine.

Smith's work is an exquisite study on form and movement, producing a veiled ethereal space, absorbing the viewer. Muted tones and organic, amorphous fields of colour are paired with more deliberate, saturated strokes and shapes, providing a grounding depth to the work that furthers movement, calling the viewer into feeling and reflection.
