Artist Statement

I create scenes inspired by places I’ve been and experiences I’ve had. I try to capture the essence of all my senses--sight, touch, sound, smell, and taste--that I might have been experiencing at the time through the moods, textures, and colours in my art. I primarily work in oil painting and have a background in graphic design. Painting has been a cathartic practice for me to revisit not only past travels, but other moments throughout life that may appear insignificant on the surface yet have left a lasting impression in my memories. I want viewers to feel the sense of longing that I feel when I immerse myself in these memories.
