Line Holtegaard is a contemporary Danish artist and illustrator currently living in Copenhagen. Educated as a graphic designer, Holtegaard has worked as a Creative Director on several top magazines in Denmark, earning her many awards for graphic design over the years. Though the passion for drawing and painting was there from an early age, it is only in the last few years that her artistic career has taken flight. In 2013, she was named “Artist of the Year” at the “Nordjyske Censored” in Denmark and in February 2018, she participated in the Danish version of the BBC TV program “Portrait Artist of the Year.” Holtegaard has designed prints and patterns for the Danish fashion industry, illustrated for magazines, and makes beautiful portraits on commission.

Originally from the North of Denmark, she has a strong love for the flora and fauna of the north, which shows in her paintings. Working primarily in oils, acrylic, and watercolor, Line Holtegaard makes sure that the motive and composition is strong before she starts on the work of art. Line creates a unique and magical universe, where dream and reality exist side by side and where recognizable figures are merged into patterns and ornaments.
