Bio:

Kylah Reed was born in New York in 1998. She later graduated from Richmond Hill High School, off the coast of Georgia. She then started at the Pratt Institute where she had a focus in painting. Reed later transferred to the Lamar Dodd School of Art, at the University of Georgia, to finish her Bachelors of Fine Arts with a focus in printmaking.

Statement:

The reproductive nature of women and plants are shown as a parallel narrative in my work. Using painting and printmaking methods to depict the female form and details of propagated houseplants, I am able to illustrate the presence of choice in both growing houseplants and female reproduction. The indoor environments are a call to a post-Eden where Eve builds her own garden without the presence of shame.
