Artist Statement:
In my paintings I depict people. By showing a person, I am conducting a dialogue with the viewer, a dialogue with the world, with your “inner child”, with yourself. Therefore, it is interesting to be in the same space with them and to live. I am concerned about the ephemerality of our current existence. Despite the fact that we are in the material space, our life is increasingly flowing into the net. The possibilities of modern technologies allow you to transfer most of your existence into electronic devices, leaving real life outside of it. Thus, a person begins to live more and more not in the real world, but in the world of information phantoms. In my paintings, I try to fix a person in material space. My characters perform intelligible, tangible actions within recognizable physical objects. I portray an ideal world in which everything is in it’s place. I often refer to the theme of childhood. After all, childhood is the beginning of a person, the basis of their relationship with the world around. By placing an object in the space of the canvas, I show a situation or a stage through which a person passes. That’s why the picture is like a portal through which the viewer can look back, plunge into the memories or suggest some events in the future.

Kornilova Svetlana works and lives in Moscow, Russian. She works with traditional materials (canvas, oil), portraits and multi-figure compositions, and works with the theme of man in the space of the modern world.
