Artist Statement
My abstract paintings are a study in the art of fixation. Each piece conjures the feeling of being caught on loop— both in process and in experience. When I am alone creating large scale patterns for faux finishing jobs, my thoughts tend to fall into a similar pattern of repetition and fixation on one subject. In each thought spiral, I recognize the cyclical nature of repetitive work and obsessive thinking. Through application of the same techniques I use on job sites, my aim is to produce a dense tapestry of intestine-like coils that act as the cathartic result of my mental rumination process.
