These botanical theme paintings are a symbolic “plant language” conversations about family relation, society or individual. I am keen on finding symbolic similarities in nature’s forms—how plant character, position in relation to other plants, or plant origins tell stories so similar to human everyday scenes. Painting titles usually give a hint about the specific idea. For example, this summer I started a new series called “Good enough,” which is my local roadside plant glorification and also a story about self-acceptance, about being a very regular hay grass—accepting that and still feeling noble for your origins. Nature forms and light are two most inspiring aspects for me.

Ieva Kampe-Krumholca is an emerging artist from Latvia. In 2017, she graduated with a Master’s in painting from the Art Academy of Latvia. Her most characteristic and well-known works are paintings from realistic botanical garden scenes series, where she speaks about family relationship and inner experiences in “plant language”. She participates in group exhibitions every year, and her paintings can be found in private collections in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Luxembourg, etc. Her long awaited solo show will take place this fall.
