Hashimoto Contemporary is thrilled to present "Muse," a solo exhibition by Erik Jones, a talented artist based in St. Petersburg. This will mark Jones' fifth solo showcase with us, offering a unique blend of hyperrealism and abstraction.

In "Muse," Jones expresses tension and anxiety through exaggerated poses set against dramatic, chaotic backdrops. His works capture the essence of erupting volcanoes, tidal waves, and flames, yet the figures remain serene amidst these tumultuous settings. His semi-abstracted nudes are brought to life with expressive brush strokes, creating textured surfaces alive with color and movement.

Balancing these surrealistic pieces, Jones introduces a series of minimal works, each named after popular candies like Skittles and Twix. These smaller pieces offer a more academic exploration of the figure, blending design elements with beauty and realistic representation. Together, they offer a delightful visual experience.

We invite you to join us for the opening on Saturday, November 11th, with Erik Jones in attendance. The exhibition runs from November 11th to December 9th, 2023.

About Erik Jones:
Born in 1982 in St. Petersburg, FL, Erik Jones received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2007. His art, known for blending the fantastical with the familiar, lies in a space where realism meets abstraction. Jones uses a vibrant palette to create figures in exaggerated poses, employing mediums like watercolor, colored pencil, and oil.
