Color, concept, and the love of a good narrative, Danyelle Lakin’s work is the biproduct of a wonderfully eclectic background. Her mother, atypical and ultimately tragic, features largely in her work, evident in the sad smiles, the derisive gestures, and the stoic acceptance that things sometimes don’t work out the way you had hoped but we can still “make do and mend”.

Primarily a figurative artist, Danyelle spent her childhood in Northern Ireland, went to Art College in the South of England and, after gallivanting around the US over the last seven years, now calls Raleigh, North Carolina her home.
