Coming from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I believe my sense of creativity tends to come from the art of improvisation. We may not have so many resources as a more developed country, but we do have a great sense of originality to solve issues and tell stories. Challenges are essential to my growth, hence the commitment to diverse mediums and techniques.
My ceramic sculptures explore the newfound perspective towards a material proven to be timeless. Fascinated by the capacity of such a raw, natural mix of water and minerals can mimic reality so vividly; my intent was to capture a sense of doubt in visual representation of my ceramic sculptures. The effect between an object being real or realism questions the intent of the symbols and what they truly represent as a whole, alone, and as a composition.
