Brandi Marie Little is a visual artist living and working in historic Savannah, Georgia. Primarily a painter, she also works with fiber, collage, and sculpture. Brandi was first introduced to oil painting as a small child by her paternal grandmother while spending summers with her in Louisiana. Collecting and preserving the past is a crucial part of her process. When she is not making art, she spends her time restoring her over one-hundred-year-old Victorian house with her husband, pet rabbit, and special needs chihuahua.

“My work starts with the searching, collecting, and preserving of the misplaced or cast aside past. In particular, I have an interest in the autonomy and privacy of photo booth portraits. Themes of mourning, nostalgia, death, fear, family, femininity, and the ephemeral nature of life are a consistent presence in my life and art. I paint with a delicate touch to produce an effect similar to staining with a distinctive sepia glow and an unmistakable feeling of bittersweet nostalgia.”

“Every so often, I remember that life is overwhelmingly beautiful. And yet, sometimes I find life to be gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking. And even less often, I understand these things to be the same.”
