Bio

Growing up in Covington, Louisiana, I lived in two separate households. I spent my weeks with my mother, a member of the middle class, and weekends with my father, who is considered to be upper-class. Because of this arrangement, I experienced my childhood through two different lenses, causing me to unconsciously inspect the varying tangible objects, behavioral interactions, and cultural differences that characterized the two households.

Artist Statement

In recent years, the United States has reported a fast decline of the middle class with no potential of slowing down. Throughout this series, I merged the history of the middle class with imagery based on that of the prestigious Rococo era of art history. Elite individuals from the 1800s to today are set within spaces filled with objects and themes I was proxy to throughout most of my time growing up. In essence, my work is meant to represent the shift from three social classes to two, and to act as preservation for the middle-class society as I experienced it.
