Want to support small art businesses this holiday season? We're here to help with a curated list of gift ideas from the artists, creatives, designers, and makers in our community. Let's get started!
SUBSCRIPTION:
Check that already-has-everything person off your list...
We LOVE The Jealous Curator's No Such Thing As Too Much Art Society (almost) daily newsletter. A one-year subscription means the recipient will get artsy inspiration, creative prompts, art flick recommendations, career advice, and so much more!
ART THAT GIVES BACK:
Invest in art that also donates to charity - win, win!
Our partner gallery PxP Contemporary donates a portion of all proceeds from artwork sales year round. In 2022, they have been supporting the Territorio de Zaguates, a massive shelter that cares for over 1,800 dogs and helps them find their forever homes, and the JED Foundation, a nonprofit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for teens and young adults in the United States. Giftable art from the gallery's current collection includes resin sculptures by Jennifer Khoshbin and limited edition prints by Shawna Gilmore!
Canadian artist Colleen Rose is donating funds from print sales of her contemporary landscapes to two local hospitals. This moody scene captures a storm at the edge of Lake Superior.
ORNAMENTS:
There are tons of fabulous options when it comes to unique ornaments for anyone on your list who loves eclectic or handmade Christmas decor.
Twiggy Boyer recently launched a collection of one-of-a-kind vintage collage ornaments in gold glass mini frames, but hurry, there are only a few left as of this writing!
Prefer wooden ornaments? How about these in funky, vivid colors by Jovanitha or the option to have a custom image painted on a wood slice by Kassandra Kessler!
Or, check out these beautiful ornaments by Sage King. Each one is made with a genuine glass fishing float found off the shores of Hawaii by a local Hawaii resident.
CALENDARS & PLANNERS:
Have a friend or loved one who is making big plans for 2023?
Help them keep track of important dates with this graphic floral wall calendar by Alison Rae Campbell.
Arts to Hearts Project is offering this handy Studio Planner for artists. As a digital product, this works for last-minute gifts or for sending to an artist friend who you won't get to see in person this season but still want to show you're thinking of them.
BOOKS:
We are a team of writers and publishers after all! Here are a few books that you or those who you are shopping for might enjoy.
A meditative coloring book? Yes, please! Grab this one by Laurén Magda. And if you loved How To Be An Artist - don't miss Art Is Life by Jerry Saltz!
GREETING CARDS:
Stay in touch with gorgeous artist-designed cards! Maybe they'll use your gift to send you a handwritten thank-you note ;)
This set features the bold and beautiful paintings of Texas-based artist Neena Buxani.
Finally, if you prefer holiday-themed cards, try these from Chantel Bettencourt!
There are so many other options for completing your holiday shopping from artists and creative small businesses, this is just barely scratching the surface. We hope our list has inspired and motivated you to look around for the exciting gift options being offered from the artists that you know or are from your area. Thanks for reading and happy holidays!
