Featuring artists Aleah Chapin, Summer Wheat, Nichole Washington, Anna Friemoth, Sam Rueter, Kaitlyn Stubbs, and Clare Spooner, working across painting, photography, drawing, and mixed media, the auction aims to make original artworks accessible to emerging collectors while supporting female artists at various points in their careers. The works will be sold at starting prices between $650-$4,000.

“We’re very proud to have put together a selection of works that are diverse in style, theme, and subject matter, though several explore womanhood and femininity in some way,” says organizer Allison Geller. “My goal in selecting these artists and works is to show the strength of these artists’ unique voices while allowing everyone to add something truly special to their collection. All of these pieces truly pop off the wall when you see them in person—they radiate strength and charisma.”

The works include two framed photographs from Anna Friemoth’s “Words for Women” series, a framed drawing by Summer Wheat, two large mixed media works by Nichole Washington, and a small oil painting of the female form by Aleah Chapin.

The auction will be run by Christie’s charity auctioneer Betsy Alexandre.

HOME AT NIGHT is a short thriller exploring gender and power in online dating, to be shot in fall 2021 with an all-female crew. Half the auction proceeds will go to the artist and half towards the short film production.

“Just as many visual artists saw shows and opportunities canceled over this past year and a half, so did the pandemic disproportionately impact women in film,” says Geller. “Now more than ever, we need to come together as women in creative fields. By supporting each other and our work, we can build a community of people who are inspired by and supportive of the arts that give our lives pleasure and meaning.”

A limited number of tickets are available for the HOME AT NIGHT Night Out, which will take place on Thursday, 9/23 from 6:30-8:30 pm at the WeWork Gotham Center. The event will include drinks from Grounded Wine Co., LIC Beer Project, and Lunar Seltzer, light bites from Union Square events, and an opportunity to meet the crew and learn more about the film and the filmmaking process. Event attendees will also go home with a copy of a limited-edition print created by local artist AJ the Awful inspired by the HOME AT NIGHT.
