Nicole Mueller is newly based in San Francisco, California from Baltimore, Maryland where she began her career as an artist and completed her undergraduate education at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
She has participated in artist residencies throughout the United States and abroad, exhibited her work in Maryland and New York, and her work is held in collections throughout the United States.
She combines her early interest in animation and cartoons with her present involvement with painting, collage, and aims to continue creating immersive environments that evoke wonder and celebrate the importance of play to the creative process.
Statement
I am fixated by the spaces between opposites, and with wanting my paintings to be both spontaneous and intentional, exuberant and complex, and everything in between. Reconciling these differences to create something that is “both playful and profound” is what motivates me and inspires my work.
