Camille Javal is a multidisciplinary artist and creative Camilleon most known for her intuitive use of color and abstract murals. Her painted interiors have been described as a visual representation of surround sound.
Camille’s artistic genesis began with mixed-media digital collage which, along with color, form the foundation of her artistic practice. Outgrowing the edges of the page, her work eventually evolved off canvas to include walls. Through painting murals and creating abstract paintings you can walk around in, she became hungry to explore space, light, connection and how three dimensional artistic experiences create worlds that can be entered rather than simply observed. Camille seeks to paint in response to her environment and context, rather than simply imposing upon it, and to use color and mark making to create (or shift) atmospheres.
Art is essential to our understanding and experience of life. To some degree I hope to paint/create and then move out of the way, so that instead of feeling like a tourist of my inner world, people feel inspired and connected to the creative part within themselves.
As my artistic expression continues to evolve, I’m increasingly interested in exploring the role of art within community and how art can bring about social change and healing.
